Ever noticed how trying too hard shows? People probably have no idea how they come across, but the real tragedy is when that effort backfires.
I remember a tennis match with a friend years ago. Focusing on perfect returns led to mostly misses. Then I shifted: focus on the ball, move with it. Suddenly, effortless returns, a real challenge for him and I could have gone on for hours !
That’s flow. Impressive without forcing it. Hearing “you make it look so easy” is the best compliment!
Even if no one is there to notice, we benefit so much: we’re in that place where we are at our most efficient, our stamina increases dramatically, our output booms, and our joy soars.
“Life is so much easier when I allow myself to be myself and go with the flow. Whatever that looks like on a given day. If I can get quiet enough to truly check in with myself, I usually end up on the right track.” — Taylor Schilling
Sure, hard work is still involved. But it’s not an arduous grind. Everything clicks, and it feels effortless. Flow. Oh how I love flow. That’s what I aimed to articulate in this week’s YouTube video.
What about you? Do you enjoy the grind, or the moments your passion feels effortless?
P.S: Finally, check out my latest creation: a short story with music as a theme! (Why didn’t I think of that sooner?)
Feel free to react/comment below this post, the short story and ehrm… The YouTube video too if you find it helpful. Thanks!
